AGSA 2021 Property Manager Conference

  NOVEMBER 21- 23rd, 2021

This is the largest gathering of Alberta’s golf maintenance professionals; Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Horticulturists, Equipment Managers, Irrigation Technicians, Turf Interns, Turfgrass students and Foremen.  Every year, speakers from around the world gather in Canmore to discuss the newest ideas and management techniques for managing AB golf course properties.  This conference allows members some educational opportunities, in addition to, some much needed Pesticide Credits.

Jason Steadwell, Syngenta

Jason has been working in the golf businessfor over 20 years.  He studied Economics& International Development at the University of Guelph, then followed upwith a Greenspace Management Diploma from Red River College in Winnipeggraduating with Honors.

He is a proud recipient of the CGSA futuresuperintendent award, with that honor came the opportunity for him to work atsome of the most iconic golf courses in Scotland & Ireland such as the OldCourse at St. Andrews, Turnberry, and Royal County Down to name a few.  Jason has also worked as an irrigation techon the construction of Black Bear Ridge golf course in Belleville and as thegrow in superintendent and eventually director of golf operations at Oak IslandGolf before moving to the supply side of the business.  

For the last 10 years he has been workingon the sales and distribution side of the golf business starting at Evenspray& Chemicals covering Mb & Northwestern Ontario as a distributor salesrepresentative, then moving up to Sales Manager overseeing 3 sales reps andmanaging the marketing and new product acquisition for that company.  In 2018 Jason started his current role asTurf Specialist for Syngenta Professional Solutions Canada providing tech supportto retailers and customers and driving Syngenta’s education initiatives such asthese for the Western Canadian Golf Business.  

Jason J. Pick, MSc. Instructor, Golf Course Management Olds College, School of Environment jpick@oldscollege.ca

Jason is faculty of Olds College, specializing in Turfgrass Science, Golf Course and

Resort Management. He holds diplomas in Agriculture and Business, a Bachelor of

Applied Science, and Masters of Turfgrass Management. He is the Executive Director

of the Alberta Turfgrass Research Foundation, and advisor to the Prairie Turfgrass

Research Center. He is a past president of the Western Canada Turf association and

former golf course superintendent. His post graduate training spans 8 different Golf

clubs across Canada and the Caribbean. He's been a certified pesticide applicator for

30+yrs, and certified applicator trainer since 2009, and Principal, Pick Sportsturf
