The MontgomeryGlen and River Ridge Golf Courses are 18-hole Golf Clubslocated in Wetaskiwin and south Edmonton. We are seeking enthusiastic, team-oriented individuals with excellentcommunication and leadership skills to fill our Golf Course Superintendentposition.

 

Description of Role
Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities:

Ø  Management of all golf playing areas which include all tees, fairways, roughs, greens and surrounding areas.

Ø  Inspects all components of the golf course and provides solutions and recommendations to any problems

Ø  Responsible for hiring, training, supervising and disciplining all golf course maintenance staff

Ø  Financial management of the Turf Care Department budget

Ø  Planning and scheduling work programs and projects

Ø  Management of Turf Care personnel. Ability to secure, train, schedule, supervise and communicate effectively with employees.

Ø  Management of all golf course equipment and materials which includes purchasing, maintenance, storing and inventory.

Ø  Accurate record keeping on inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, cost accounting and material applications.

Ø  Instruct equipment operators in the safe operation and care of all equipment

Ø  Supervises daily course set-up which includes hole locations, tee marker placements, mowing operations, bunker maintenance, course fertilization, pesticide applications and irrigation operations.

Ø  Initiates plans for cultural practices, such as aeration, spiking, verti-cutting and top-dressing

Ø  Takes control for planning and preparing short & long term maintenance and construction schedules

Ø  Supervises and participates with construction projects.

 

Desired Experience

Qualifications:

Ø  A diploma or degree in Turf Grass Management

Ø  Five (5) years experience in Golf Course Maintenance

Ø  Valid Alberta Applicator’s Pesticide License

Ø  Experience in all aspects of fertilizer & pesticide application

Ø  Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in golf course grounds maintenance; water practices and irrigation systems

Ø  Knowledge of landscaping to improve golf course design and to recognize the need for proper pruning, planting, spraying and related care

Ø  Must have supervisory, purchasing, and financial management experience

Ø  Knowledgeable in all aspects of computerized irrigation operation, repair and maintenance

Ø  Experience with interviewing, hiring and scheduling of staff

Ø  Must be an excellent team leader and possess excellent communication skills

A working knowledge of computers is essential
